Alex Bell moved to Hawaii at the beginning of the 20th century. He brought with golf design and construction knowledge learned under the tutelage of Ben Sayers in North Berwick.
Bell is credited with being Hawaii's first golf professional. He also helped popularize golf in Hawaii with his the construction of Maui Country Club Golf Course which he designed.
