Bertrand Jay Riviere

Jay graduated from Rice University in 1956. While at Rice, he played on the football team and was a member of the 1954 team that defeated Alabama in the Cotton Bowl. He was also on the golf team at Rice. After college, Jay worked for Jimmy Demaret as an assistant golf professional at the Concord Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, New York. Subsequently, he was assistant golf professional under Claude Harmon at Winged Foot Golf Club in New York for three years. Jay discovered his lifetime occupation as a golf course architect in 1964. He and Dave Marr joined forces and created Riviere-Marr which continued until his retirement in 2002. He was responsible for designing, constructing and renovating approximately seventy-five courses primarily in the Houston area, as well as others nationally and internationally.
