Mike Young - 17 Courses

Golf architect Photo, Mike Young

Mike Young grew up in Georgia.

One of his first jobs connected with golf was a sales job with a Toro distributorship. The position gave him the opportunity to interact with the superintendents of hundreds of different golf courses. Mike became a seasoned listener and student of the courses he visited, taking pictures detailed notes.

While working in the turf equipment industry, he was exposed to hundreds of different layout styles and learned everything about environmentally effective design and construction literally from the ground up.

Mike also visited the golf courses and studied the work of the most respected golf architects.

In 1985, Mike was commissioned to design his first golf course, The Fields Golf course, in LaGrange, Georgia.

Unlike many of today%u2019s architects, Mike did not serve as an apprentice under a %u201Cnamed%u201D architect. He established his own practice.

Mike followed a different path with hands-on learning. His designs are natural to the landscape and not contrived. His skill is well regarded and proves that there is more than one path to a destination.
