Turtle Point golf course first opened for play in 1961. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the golf course at Turtle Point.

Turtle Point is known for having one of the top golf courses in the state of Alabama. The course has been the host site of the SEC Championship, the State Amateur Championship, the Southern Amateur as well as other notable events over its 40 plus years history. The course is known for its natural topography and challenging layout.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,035 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,742 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 553 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 168 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 461 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club is # 13, a 359 yard par-4.
