This is a story of a dreamer, Murray Roper, and the dream of a private golf course in Trussville, Alabama.
Murray Roper, a dairy farmer in Trussville, said goodbye to the cows and goats and hello to a new obsession…. GOLF, in early 1966.
Murray decided to take his own farmland and build his own golf course. Starting out with only 9 holes in 1967, the course was named Cahaba Valley Golf Course. In 1990, PGA Professional Chris Rigdon, bought the land from Mr. Roper.
The dream of Murray Roper to have a private country club in Trussville was reached soon after Chris bought the property. Thanks to Mr. Roper for building the golf course by himself with the help of only a bulldozer and giving Trussville something special. Thanks to Chris for keeping the dream alive.
Surrounded by the Cahaba River, Trussville Country Club, has a creek that flows throughout the course and comes into play several times. The greens are large and the fairways are wide.
Trussville Country Club golf course plays to 6,024 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 67.9 and it has a slope rating of 116. Trussville golf course opened in 1967.
