Sycuan Resort is a 54 hole golf course facility located in El Cajon, California. This facility has 2 championship 18 hole courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen. It also has the par-3 executive 18 hole course, Pine Glen.
Pine Glen was the first of the 3 courses. Pine Glen opened for play in 1950. The course was designed by Ted Robinson. Opened in 1956, Oak Glen was the second Sycuan Resort golf course. Willow Glen was designed by Ted Robinson and Dave Fleming. The same pair of designers also designed Willow Green Golf Course. Willow Green opened for play in 1967.
All three courses are scenic. Ponds and a riverbed that come into play on all three courses. Each course is traditionally designed. The Pine Glen Course, a par 3 course, is excellent for beginners. The Oak Glen Course and the Willow Glen Course play very much the same. The fairways are tree lined and narrow, and the undulating greens are medium in size and speed.

This course is an old-style course that runs through old sycamore trees, pines, etc. Built way back in the 1970's, it was redesigned in the 80's after severe flooding. However the new layout is fun and challenging. Mostly a flat course with a few holes that use the nearby surrounding hills for some elevation changes. A fair test that will challenge you to keep your drives straight, otherwise you will be navigating shots around some big trees. On the day I played, the greens were perfect, fast, and very difficult if you got above the hole. Great bunkers and the fairways were just about a week away from being perfect as they were allowing the overseed to fill in. Well worth the travel and the money.

Best of the two full courses. More ambiance of the two. Both are good challenge. Great facilities and lodging.

The course is always in decent condition. An added benefit/attraction is the various wildlife on the course with coyotes, redtail hawks, perigrin falcons, egrets, heron's and other numerous small animals that can be found every day.

The over-seeding has created a course that is in great shape for this time of year.

Outstanding course with courteous staff, excellent restaurant for dinner after or breakfast before. Course is in superb condition, especially the greens. 4 sets of tees make play challengeing yet enjoyable for players from intermediate to expert. (Pine Glen is available for beginners on the same property.)

Course is struggling to reopen with skeleton crews under a new GM with no authority to bring the course up to its former high standards. Fairways have bare spots and greens are inconsistent. Roughs are weedy and sometimes quite high.
