Escena Golf Club is a public 18-hole golf course located in Palm Springs, California.
Escena Golf Club opened for play in 2005. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The course is framed by the Chocolate and San Jacinto mountains and blue desert skies. Palm trees, native desert landscaping and dramatic waterscapes add to the ambiance as you play your way through this stunning oasis.
Unobstructed sightlines and generous driving corridors give you a clear view of how to navigate each hole. Strategically placed bunkers, water hazards and undulating greens are there before you, but at the same time there is ample room for you to decide how much you want to flirt with them. With back tees stretching to nearly 7,200 yards, Escena offers a formidable test for the skilled player, but with four sets of tees and room to roam, how you satisfy your personal appetite for challenge is entirely up to you.
Tournament tees: par-72, 7,163 yards
Championship tees: par-72, 6,615 yards
Middle tees: par-72, 6,115 yards
Forward tees: par-72, 5,503 yards

Only issue was the price. Played the same course last year for $ 10 less.

This is by far the best course adjacent to the downtown area, far superior to Taquitz for a very small additional price. It is plenty long and like many Jack Nicklaus designed courses, there is a risk/reward component to alomst every hole and every shot. Par 3s are particularly challenging. In additional to a great course, with nice fairways and plenty of water and sand, but not too much and none unfair, the mountain views are incredible. The pro shop is great. The clubhouse is gorgeous and the food and service outstanding. We have played this course in high season and low season. It is always in great shape. Put this at or near the top of your list for your next trip to Palm Springs.

What a great course, played with my golf group 12 of us from all over the country. Great people just a little understaffed in the AM. If you hit your drive 200 to 210 play the forward tees because if not you will be in the trap most of the day. Course was in magnificent condition. The course id also very close to the airport and that worked out great for guys having to make flights.

Great layout and facility, it is a resort type course with all holes separate from each other. Condition was good and speed of play was about 4 hours. Plenty of bunkers both fairway and around the greens. High handicappers should play the forward tees or plan to spend a lot of time in the bunkers.

Played this course on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend and it was packed but they gave me a 1:49 tee time and told me I would not finish the round before dark. However they only charged me $35 which I thought was very fair. Pace of play was decent considering the crowds and we did get in 16 holes but had to quit due to darkness at 5:45 pm. The course was perfect with wall to wall over-seeding of ryegrass, very nice greens, and great bunkers. The layout is very fair with wide fairways and very little desert influence. The course is made challenging with many bunkers and some lakes however I never felt they were brought in too tightly. Some nice short par 4's that make you either go for broke or lay back for an easier second shot. The par threes are probably the most challenging as a few of them stretch to over 200 yards. The course has 5 par 3's and 5 par 5's and never bores you. I am told that it often gets windy but I was lucky to have a perfect 75 degree and windless round. I would definitely play this again.
