Detailed description of Anaheim Hills Golf Course

Anaheim Hills Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Anaheim, California.

The course first opened for play in 1972. Richard Bigler was the course architect.

Anaheim Hills Golf Course lives up to its name. This is a hilly course. Most fairways are separated and the greens can be fast especially in mid-summer. There are a number of blind shots and doglegs.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,245 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,361 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 501 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 142 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 428 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Anaheim Hills Public Country Club is # 17, a 164 yard par-3.

The grass around the greens is Bermuda and catches the ball making this course that much more challenging.

Surprisingly enjoyable - I participated in a Men's Club tournament and found the members and the staff very hospitable. The course required strong shot-making, but several of the holes seemed to be a little underdeveloped. It was a fair test and overall, the conditions were quite good. I'd definitely return to play in the future.

Pace of play was 5 hours. Not great but a partial reason is that the course needs more directional markers to the next tee. We got lost a few times which added minutes to the pace. That said, it's a real challenge but a sensory experience. Nice vistas, grand old trees, interesting layouts and the weather was perfect. I can imagine it gets pretty hot in the summer months here, but with all the trees there's plenty of shade to be found. I noticed in the pro shop the price for a weekend round is $56, which is competitive with most AG-run golf courses and this one is in FAR better shape.

I stopped playing this course a while back because it was always so painfully slow to play here, and nothing has changed after a couple of years, still agonizingly slow. I like the layout of this track and it's somewhat challenging, and is set in a nice area with the trees, hills, and creek in all, but the condition of the fairways, greens, and tee boxes are average at best (which might be a stretch). I paid $36 through click4teetimes, which was a good rate. However, I was told by my golf partner that the normal weekend rate for the time we played was $60, which is obscenely high considering the condition of the course compared to other tracks a few miles away in Corona. All in all, if you can get a discount rate and don't mind waiting a long while, then this track would be worth playing. Otherwise, don't bother.

Decent track but over-priced. Any t-time after 7:00 will be a challenge to finish in under 5 hours. Very hilly with some interesting layouts. The GPS is nice.

Course is a heavily played municipal course. Some trees but overall an open layout with many challenging holes. Greens show wear but are quite true, fairways thin, tee boxes mostly level and sand excellent. Senior rate is quite low for what you get. Definitely will return.

Not a bad public course layout. Some interesting and challenging holes. Fairway grass was poor but it was winter. Hard time finding anything but tight lies on fairways or chipping areas. Greens in pretty good shape.

this course gives the average play the chance to learn to hit balls from different lies, instead of the flat lies most public courses. It is a good risk/reward course. It make the player think and use course management.

I don't mind uphill, downhill, sidehill lies, but, this course has hardly any flat lies. Every hole is either uphill, downhill, or a combination of both. There are some parallel fairways where you are in danger. Don't play in winter. Good grass areas are few and far between. Without overseeding your ball will roll into a poor lie, fairway or rough, most of the time. The greens are OK, but, there are some very silly pin position possibilities. Almost the entire front half of one green is a false front. When putting from the upper to lower level on another green it is almost impossible to keep it on the lower level.

I play this course at least twice a week, usually in the early morning. It is a great course that requires course management and yet there are some holes that you can let it rip. There are multiple elevation changes so the course plays longer and shorter than the yardage indicates making you work for the par. You can not walk this course. The carts all have GPS and homes only come into play on the first tee.(left side). They have recently just re sanded the bunkers and there is water, but not a lot. The course has some multi level greens and some fast sloping greens that make you place your approach properly or you pay the price. The Hills is a challenging course for any level golfer.

Really a fun course. What makes it fun is the elevation change on many of the holes. Seems like at least a couple hundred feet!! When up on some of the elevated tees the view of the rest of the course is pretty spectacular.
