Presidio Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in San Francisco, California.
Founded in 1895 by the private San Francisco Golf and Country Club, the original 9-hole Presidio Golf Course was one of the earliest courses on the West Coast. During the Spanish American War the course remained open, but was extensively used for training and drill. After the 1906 earthquake, a refuge camp was established here. In 1910, the course was expanded to 18-holes. The course was open only to officers and members of the Presidio Golf Club prior to base closure. Today, the course is open to the general public.
Designed with tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers, this 18-hole "hilly" golf course offers a unique challenge for golfers of all abilities. Orginally designed by Robert Wood Johnstone, the course was expanded in 1910 by Johnstone in collaboration with Wiliam McEwan and redesigned and lengthened by the British firm of Fowler & Simpson in 1921.
The prestigious Presidio golf course opened for public play in 1995. Located just minutes from downtown San Francisco, this 18-hole course plays 6,500 yards of challenging golf winding through beautiful Eucalyptus and Monterey Pine trees in The City's trademark hills.
The Par-72 golf course is open to public everyday from dawn to dusk.

Great course if you live in SF and can get the local rate. Little pricey if not but it is in a great location and very nice layout.

This is one of the nicesest courses I have ever played. The course is in really good shape. The layout is challenging The views of the City are beautiful. The staff really keeps the pace of play moving. Be prepared for cold conditions

We were treated very badly. Delayed our tee time 1/2 hour and then kept telling us we were behind. cart path only' would not issue blue flags to handicapped players but later issued flags to players. Closed the bar and dinning early because off another function. it gave us the feeling ,we got your money so please leave. We had 60 players for a tournament. we will never go back.

Good course for a Teetime rate of $40 w/ cart, that you can find on several web sites including this one, but in NO way would I pay $80 - $100 to play this course on the weekend. It has the San Francisco price hike, without the conditions or challenge of other courses in that price range (such as Half Moon Bay, or Stonetree).

I play this course often and it's wonderful but, expect slow pace in the afternoons.

Received better pricing through discount web site so it was steal for the price. I like this course a lot. Challenging, but fair. Beautiful setting with city views beyond. Minor complaint would be traffic noise on some holes, although you cannot see it. Lots of trees and hills, good greens are reasonably paced, a few blind shots, some fun par 3's.

I will play again bc I rec'd 2 free rounds for playing in this tourney. However, the course is less than 5 miles from me, and I have not played it in more than a year. It is is sad shape.

Presidio has been working on sand traps on several holes for months now. I'm not sure why it is taking so long to complete the repairs and replacements. Otherwise, a nice course and a challenging layout.
