The pace of play is what ruins a good golf outing. This course has the slowest pace of play in Ventura County. They need a marshall, but from what I've been told, Kemper Golf is too cheap to even give away free golf to a course marshall. If you think 5 hours and 15 minutes is too slow for a round of golf...you may want to choose another course.

Its on our yearly tournament schedule for the past 25 plus years. Always a joy and a challenging Links course.Great practice facilities. Greens are a challenge if you don't 3 putt you did well. Play early am is a must.Bring your own GPS.No clubhouse.

Play here often. Layout is challenging enough but there can be an ocean breeze that adds to the challenge. One of my favorites in the area.

Olivas Links is a great links course - wide fairways, but you still need to have control over your woods and irons. Greens challenging and fast, but very fair and in good condition. Local knowledge is helpful here, especially with green placement. Can be windy in the afternoon as it is just off the coast near Ventura Harbor. I've been with several players who eagled the par 5 18th hole (not me) and a great way to end the day. I hope the course gets a bar/grill soon as there are no food beverage options on the course. Worth traveling to as it is a lot of fun and no two holes are the same. Affordable and pace of play is always good. Good practice facilities

A true style links course that offers challenge and cooler weather. Olivas is a good tract, but the lack of food facilties detracts from a good golf experience.

The course layout, the condition of the fairways and greens and the staff there are wonderful. It's a true links type course with great character and ambiance. However, the lack of any serious food and drink facilities are a complete joke and there's nothing the friendly staff and cart girl can do about it. I'm sure management would like to improve it but my understanding is the City of Ventura has tied their hands by giving them a five year lease instead of a longer lease where it would be worth making capital improvements. Great course for the golf but a minus 10 for the lack of amenities. Shame on Ventura!

True Links course with winds pushing 2 clubs and the ocean just a par 5 away. Large greens, ample fairways and interesting layout. I would happily recommend this course to anyone interested in an enjoyable round of golf. Only draw back is pace of play.

Front nine links style with prevailing wind is the best nine in the county. Back nine is long and tough, makes you wonder if the round will ever end...terrific value--bring all the clubs, you'll use them.

No map indications on scorecard or at tee box as to hole layout, distance to hazards, dogleg corners, etc. no gps on carts. Difficult to play if unfamiliar with course. Yardage markers were not very helpful, in fact they were confusing.

First of all, the name as currently listed is wrong. The course used to be called Los Olivas, and after a complete redesign to a links-style course, they re-opened as Olivas Links. Like many links courses, the fairways and greens are rolling and seemingly open, but disaster lurks just a few feet from most fairways. Even slightly errant shots and unlucky bounces can result in lost balls and 1-2 extra strokes. And while often gusting wind is the course's best defense, there are enough hazards to make even the scratch golfer sweat just a little bit. The clubhouse has not been rebuilt yet, and more than one staff member doubts if it will ever happen, but the trailer-home pro shop offers all of the essentials, so the only big negative is the lack of any real food and beverage options - the pre-made sandwiches in the beverage cooler just won't cut it, and cart girl is apparently frequently abducted by aliens, along with her cargo of basic F&B. But we don't keep making the drive to Ventura to eat or drink (although there are plenty of good off-course options relatively close by), we go for the enjoyment and challenge of playing a European style course at far better prices and in far better weather. And if that sounds good to you, you'll make that drive over and over, too.
