Spring Valley is a public course situated at an elevation of 6400 feet. The course is situated on rolling hills and is laid out on both sides of Running Creek lined with 75 year old, giant cottonwood trees.
Running Creek winds through this traditional course set in Spring Valley. Native vegetation along the creek affects play on a number of holes. The front nine is open, while the back nine is heavily treed with mature cottonwoods. The greens are medium-sized with moderate undulation.
The signature hole is No. 17, a 205 yard par 3. An elevated tee plays down through a tree-lined fairway to a green fronted by a creek. There is room behind the green, but don't be short.
Your best chance for a birdie would be on No. 5, a 520 yards, par 5. This is a downhill hole that is open off the tee. The wide landing area allows long hitters to go for the green in two. Lack of trouble around the green lets a long second shot roll on.
There are no restrictions on public play. Carts are not required, although they are restricted to the cart paths when used. Walking is allowed and pull carts are available.

I played in a tournament at Spring Valley. It was well organized and the pace of play was amazing. Shotgun start, and never waited to tee up for the next hole. Just about the easiest course I've played lately, and fun.

Seemed to play long from the blue tees. Good test for the average golfer such as myself.

Enjoy playing this course. Especially in the spring, but not when there is a lot of wind [like the last time we tried to play here].

I come out and play this course frequently. I live in Castle Rock. I have a day off during the week and it is a great value and not too easy but not too hard. The greens take a while in the spring to come around but at 6800 feet that is typical. They have a birthday special on their website which will get you a free round and an internet special where you can print a coupon. Good course to walk if you like to. My only downside is that they won't let you call same day to join as a single like the Denver/Aurora courses will which can be a problem if you drive nearly 20 miles to get there. However, it has become my favorite course for the layout related to the price.
