Woodbridge Country Club, previously a Private course. is now a Public 18 hole golf course located in Woodbridge, Connecticut. The course was purchased by the city during the golf and economic recession at the end of the 1st decade of the 21st century.
Woodbridge golf course first opened for play in 1938. The course was designed by Orrin E. Smith. One of the holes on the course was redesigned in 1986 by Brian Ault.
This traditional well-manicured course was built on hilly terrain and has beautiful tree-lined fairways. There are water hazards that come into play on a few holes.
Par for the course is 74. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,528 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,494 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 545 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 125 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 440-yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Woodbridge is # 17, the short 125 yard par-3.
The course closed at the end of the 2016 golf season. The future of the property has not been settled. One option that has been voiced is that the property would become a Toll Brothers senior citizens community.

Played twice this year. In the Spring the course was in fairly good shape but this Fall it went really downhill. Doesn't look like the money is going back into the course which it too bad.

Nice layout but greens, fairways and rough seem to have been attacked by a fungus. Course has a nice layout and would be fun if they can get it back in shape. Would stay away until 2014 and give it another shot.

Way over-priced in consideration of the taotal experience. The facility really shows wear and tear...shoddy clubhouse...cart paths etc in bad shape. Course was in OK shape...doesn't drain very well apparently...but confusing layout...marked ok but you can get messed up. Some challenging holes but you can tell this place is taking more money out than they are putting in so conditioning is not up to what an $85 course should be...even in CT! I'd play again but only at half the price.

Woodbridge Country Club used to be private but has now turned public. The members new their course, due to this, the now open to the public semi-private course is not very well marked, especially from the tees (including par 3's) so it is hard to determine how far it is to doglegs or bunkers. Overall this course requires a lot of local knowledge. There are many blind shots and a lot of elevation changes. Even getting from one hole to another is confusing.
As for positives, the course is in very good shape. The greens are difficult, but in good condition. We got an on-line special for $60 that included golf, cart, range balls, and lunch which I feel was a good value. However the normal price is $85 dollars and this does not include lunch. In my opinion this is a $60 course and not an $85 course.

Played this course when it first went public "fantastic" great layout, fast greens and the fairways better than average. The next year it went downhill fast, it now is starting to come back to its original condition. This really is a great course and can really make you play every club in the bag.
