Played here 6-23-10, a Friday, for $69. Not a bad price, considering the competition in the Rehoboth Beach area, but not a bargain, either. Transplant this layout about 20 miles west and the price would go down to about $40. Course is very flat, and pretty much wide open, but there is water on 12 holes, some of it very much in play. For example, #3 has water down the right side, and that same water crosses the #4 fairway from side to side, so it's either lay up or blast it out there to a 225+ carry (from the white tees). I laid up, as did the three locals with whom I was playing. Design is about as challenging as can be made, given the terrain. Fairways are wide and receptive, bunkers are plentiful, and greens tend to be very large, with some undulation. They putted about medium speed on 6-25. Overall, conditions were good, especially considering the heavy thunderstorms the previous night. Hard to lose a ball on the course, unless you dunk it. Course is par 71, and has 5 par 3's, including one of 200 yards. Course is walkable. Clubhouse is small, but serviceable, with a friendly staff. Course is easy to find, but gets a lot of play, so call ahead to ensure availability. I recommend it.

For the amount of play this course gets (public course) especially from the spring thru the fall the greens are always great and the overall condition of the course is fantastic kudos to the green keepers

I am a member and play there 5 times per week. It is a great links layout style course and usually in good condition. Personnel are very friendly and helpful. Food/Bar facilities are nice when open. Would definitely recommend the Rookery South to anyone.
