Fernandina Beach Golf Club is a Public, 27 hole golf facility facility located in the second oldest city in the United States, Fernandina Beach, Florida. Fernandina Beach Golf Club has three 9-hole golf courses. These courses can be combined in pairs to form three different 18 hole course challenges. The nine-hole courses are The North Course, The South Course, and The West Course.
With 27 distinctive holes consisting of the North, West and South nine-hole layouts of varied difficulty and design and proximity to Jacksonville and the beach, makes Fernandina Beach Golf Club one of the most popular municipal golf facilities in the country.
At par-35 and 3,094 yards, the North nine is the oldest course on Amelia Island, opening in 1956. The North Course was designed by Ed Madison.
The championship-length West course's No. 2 hole is its signature, a par-5 monster measuring 607 yards from the tips. Also designed by Ed Madison, the West golf course opened in 1959.
The South nine was the last of the nines to open, and did so in 1972 . The South Nine is considered the most scenic of the three nines as well as tightest, described as a "shot makers" course. Designed by Tommy Birdsong, the South golf course opened in 1972.
The West/South combination is the tournament course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The West nine is long and there is a challenging par-5 that is one of the most difficult on the golf course. The South nine features an abundance of trees and water hazards, putting a heavier emphasis on accuracy rather than distance in scoring well. The golf course is also considered a perfect example of scenic Florida golf with native foliage and wildlife throughout.
With generous fairways and native foliage outlining each hole, all three nines provide relaxing and enjoyable environments. Each course measures well over 3000 yards from the championship tees and presents a one-of-a-kind challenge.

This course has to be vacation worthy because I just played it on my vacation again. Great time. Great fun. My twosome did the course in 3 hours. Played the North and West courses. The North's still had a lot of sand on them from a recent sanding, but it wasn't a problem. The West greens were excellent. A little soft from the recent rain, but looking great. Still have not pared the 607 yard second hole, but getting close with a 6. The cost was only $20 bucks after 4 o'clock. that included a cart. The rough was up a little from the recent rains, but still very manageable. Enjoyed ourselves and will continue to come every year, at least until I par the second hole on the West course. Good course, good time and good fun.

I did it agian. This is becoming an annual event. I like this course. This year I played from the geezer tees, but it was still 5900 yards long. I did not get to play the 600 yard par five, but it is still there and pretty tough.
The temp was in the high 80's but the 0cean breeze made it feel more like the 70's. Great time of the year to play. The greens and fairways were well cared for and the rough is very rough. The greens are all small and most bunketred on the right and lefrt. One of them is bunkered every where except for a narrow entrance to the right of the green. So if you hit it down the moddle and can't make in on in regulation, you better play it down the right side or else you are hitting over a very large and long bunker to the green.
Great vacation course becausae it is good for your ego. Shot an 88 and am usually aq mid 90's guy. They also have new special evening rate that begins at 3:00 pm. - $24.00 and that includes a cart and that is every day of the week. Monday through Sunday. That is great. From the championship tees. This baby is almost 6,700 yards. Once you play, you will be back. All the pople with the course are very nice and easy to deal with.

I've played this course each time I've been to Fernandina. It's a fun course especially if you play the North and then the South Course which has a 600 yard par five. Also it's best to play after 1:00 pm when the price drops $15.00 below the regular price. That makes it a much better course to play. The fairways and greens were in better than average condition, but they were very hard. Your ball rolled long and far on both. the greens were not that fast but they are small and the ball does not have to go far to roll off. Hardly no one was out there when I played and with 27 holes they can manage the people easily. I've never had to wait playing there. Worth the time and money.

Great course to play. It becomes a bargain after 3:00 pm when the late afternoon fees begin. I paid 27.50 which includes the cart. The best hole is the 605 par five on the West course. This is a challenge for the seniors and short hitters. The course is right off the beach so there is a great breeze blowing all the time. This is a great course for exercise if you want to walk. But the price is the same whether you walk or ride.

Called the night before, quoted a $35 rate, same as Golf Now but with the flexibility of just showing up without a time commitment. Much to my surprise, when I arrived at the check-in counter I was told that it was $20 w/cart. They were having a September special. Even at $35 this course would have been a good value anywhere. Even more so in island resort area.
The course is primarily flat. The fairways are lined with Spanish Moss covered mature Live Oaks. The trees added much to the appeal. The landing areas were wide. A number of fairways are dog-legged. Water is present but typically requires a bad shot to be a factor.
The course was in nice condition, but not impeccably manicured with the exception of the greens which were superior. They concentrated the most effort on the greens, and it showed.
The friendly and helpful staff only added to what was already a feel good course.
