Ashton Hills Golf Club, previously named Indian Creek Golf Club and originally named Covington Plantation Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Covington, Georgia.
The course first opened for play in 1997. The golf course was designed by Desmond Muirhead.
Indian Creek closed in November 2011. The course reopened May 2012 with new owners. The new owners are investing $2 million in the course, which closed in November 2011. Golf course architect and designer Mike Young of Mike Young Designs in Athens will oversaw the project.
Bryan Raines, the golf pro at Indian Creek, is returning as co-owner and golf pro at the revamped course.
The golf course is conveniently located just 35 minutes east of Atlanta in the quaint setting of Covington, Georgia. Ashton Hills starts with three par fours as it winds through narrow corridors of rolling North Georgia terrain. One of the course's signatures is a set of green side bunkers that gives the impression of a sunburst. A picture of this hole was selected for the cover of Executive Golfer magazine. I guess that means, picture perfect. Also of not is the dramatic 15th hole, playing from 155 to 200 yards over a picturesque lake. #15 was featured among the best par 3's in the state by the Georgia Golf Association.
The golf course requires some tee shots to tight landing areas. The course is very beautiful with scenic surroundings. Single-family homes line some fairways, but are not intrusive.
The course plays to a par-72 and maximum distance of 6,906 yards. The course rating is 72.7 and the slope rating is 139. Four sets of ree boxes allow all levels of golfers to find a challenge or their comfort zone.
