Orofino golf course first opened for play in 1966.
This course was built on hilly terrain, resulting in many uneven lies. Due to the hills and trees, the area is amazingly beautiful. Many of the fairways are tree lined. You'll have a tough time hitting two identical shots on at Orofino Golf & Country Club golf course, as there are few flat fairways and lots of elevation changes.
Orofino Golf & Country Club plays to a 9-hole par of 35 and a maximum 9-hole distance of 2,696 yards. The course rating is 34.0 and the slope rating is 110.
#1 / #10 About 250 yard par 4 with OB to the left and a row of trees right. Green is on a elevated plateau with steep sides. Missing right is disastrous.
#2 / #11 About 320 yard par 4 from elevated tee. Must hit drive 180+ to clear ravine. A hooked drive will roll down the slanted fairway towards OB especially late in summer when ground is harder.
#3 / #12 About 150 yard par 3. Missing left is much like hole 1. Ball will roll down steep hill towards OB.
#4 / #13 About 440 yard par 5. Longest hole on course. Uphill dogleg left. A 210 plus drive will reach top of hill leaving a manageable 2nd shot. Approach to double tiered green goes from elevated fairway to green across a draw. Bunkers left and right of green come in to play.
#5 / #14 About 330 yard par 4 Straight fairway, opens up to the left. Green is at the bottom of hill. Don't miss long or right.
#6 / #15 Exact opposite of 5.
#7 / #16 About 330 yard par 4 Dogleg right. A long drive down middle of fairway can run over the hill and OB. Good drive to top of hill leaves 120 yards to elevated green across another draw.
#8 / #17 About 120 yard par 3. To an elevated green across a pit of wood chips. Green is sloped hard from back to front. Want to stay below the hole.
#9 / #18 About 400 yard par 4 From an elevated tee. Most lay up short of pond that covers the front of green to 100 yards out. 5 is a good score here. Holes that play differently on back 9: Hole 11 No longer from an elevated tee. Hole 12 Moves to 190 yard par 3. Must clear OB between tee and green.
