Wakonda Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Wakonda Club Golf Course first opened to play in 1922. The course was designed by William B. Langford.
This challenging course features numerous trees and sand bunkers in its design, which will affect your shots. "Golf Digest" has previously it the #1 "Best in State" course. "GOLFWEEK" ranked it among the "Top 100 Classical Courses."
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,959 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,202 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 8, a par-5 that plays to 554 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 184 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 1, a 437 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 188 yard par-3.

Waconda is old school at it's best. The first two times I played it I was invited and the round was comped, but now I hear they have been allowing outside play for a pretty steep fee. It's a chance to play a piece of golden age architecture that has been maintained at a private club level. Bring your A game, you'll need it.
