Played here 5-25-11, for $31.95 (kind of an odd price, eh?), but that included lunch, so it was a pretty good deal.

I'd descibe Laytonsville as a nice "neighborhood" type of layout, nothing too fancy, but nice, and very playable. Front nine is MUCH easier than the back nine, so if only playing nine, choose your poison well! Course is on rolling terrain, with serious elevation change on only about five holes. There is some water on only two holes, and it really only comes into play on #7. Tee boxes are large, fairways generous, and greens medium large. Not too many bunkers in play. Conditions were pretty good: tees and fairways were excellent, greens were quite good, although one (#3) had apparently been aerated within the last week (none of the others showed any signs of recent punching), and they putted about medium speed and ran true. Bunkers were a little thin.

Clubhouse is smallish, but relatively new, and the staff is just super: a very comfortable group.

Our only complaint was pace of play: for a weekday things moved slowly: we waited for nearly every shot, and there was no sign of a ranger. I can only imagine what happens on weekends.

Overall, I recommend the course: the layout/design supports new golfers, or those just out for a walk. If you want a more serious challenge, go a mile down the road to Blue Mash!

The first impression I had approaching the club house was that the chippingputting area were the conditions were terrible. However, the driving range was really good.

As I was began playing I recognized that the first impressions which were negative would probably be consistent throughout.

I was wrong. I really enjoyed myself, the course was very nice. I definitely intend to play it more this year. The club house, although small, was sociable. It is on my list of going of play again courses.

Condition of the course was remarkable for January. Fairways were lush, greens in great shape. Course is not difficult, but hey! ... it's nice to score well.
