Last played here almost 2.5years ago so its time for another replay. Got a 6:46am tee time and had three (3) groups in front of us so the 4 hour pace was pretty normal. We all (4some) decided to play the Blues (tips) as there are no real forced carries in this rolling 6,400yd / 70.9 / 133 Par 34/36 layout. The Front 9 is the shorter (2,972yds) side until you get to #4 a slight dogleg right, 505yd Par5 that is treelined narrow. Follow that up with #5 a 412yd Par 4 that has a narrow landing neck at 200-220yds out, to a elevated green. The #6 is a Par 3 that can be played from 147yds to 265yds with the green framed by two (2) tall trees 50yds from the green. Only a straight shot staying inside the 25yd gap will get you home from any tee box selection. (We chose the 185yd Whites) The biggest defense of this course so far is the "Crowned" greens that will reject any short hit shots. The Back 9 stretches its yardage out to 3,428yds and throws in some ponds to keep that tee shot honest. The #11 is a dogleg left 520yd Par 5 that requires a 210yd drive to see your next landing area. This is followed up by #12 / 389yd being another dogleg right that has the corner framed by ponds, so stay in the middle. The hole #13 440yd Par 4 is a straightaway Hcp 2 narrow layout that is followed by the Hcp 1 hole #14 a dogleg right 425yd Par 4. I've never seen a 18 hole layout with #1 & #2 Hcp holes on the same side, oh well. The #17 is a Par 3 that can be played from 112yd back to 225yds that has a pond in front with a 10yd relief for those short shots. It also has TALL trees on either side of the 35yd wide fairway that you must split to get your ball home, so don't stray. The finishing #18 a dogleg left 354yd has you hitting back uphill with a large tree 200yds out on the inside corner. The uphill shot to the hidden green requires a 1-2 extra club to hit this two tier green for a great finish. Very few sand traps but the crowned slick greens protected itself very well today. Jeremy ended up shooting 84 w/36putts and I had 80 w/31 putts on this four (4) tour of a "Rolling Meadows" layout.

It's October, Saturday morning at 8:15 am, cloudy skies, no wind, 36 degrees with no frost, great day for golfing in Michigan.

This layout is a nice mix of tree-lined fairways (Front 9, 2,972yd, Par 34) and open Links (Back 9, 3,428yd, Par36) with nine (9) doglegs to throw into this lush, well-maintained layout. All of the tee boxes show the desired landing areas with no real fairway traps coming into play from the Blue (6,400yd / 70.9 / 133) tee box, but the Whites (6,035yd / 69.1 / 124) could be different.

The #6 Par 3 at 265yds, tree-lined fairway, really tested your driver accuracy as I found myself 50yds short of the promise land but what the heck, it was worth the try.

The greens were rolling very good for having a heavy rain last night, but the cup placement was a bit of a surprise. They told me about a Halloween fun outing that was taking place at noon, and the cup would be in the worst possible locations, they weren't lying.

I got fortunate in hitting most greens in the front and putting up hill. #15 was way back center on the ridge that had my 3 putt bogie looking good from the side hill that I started from.

This is a very enjoyable layout that has the fairway separation far enough as to not inflect pain on other golfers. Found myself shooting 38/41 w/34putts on this "Trick or Treat" golfing layout that had may decorations (Bloody body under a lawnmower, Witch sitting on the #18 green) to keep you smiling as you make your way around this well kept, locally owned, friendly layout.
