Detailed description of Arrowhead Golf Club

Arrowhead Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Caro, Michigan.

Arrowhead Golf Club first opened for play in 1973 as a 9-hole course. It was expanded to 18 holes in 2001. The course was designed by Kevin Marcola.

The Arrowhead Golf Club Golf Course cuts through woods and sits alongside the Cass River. Each hole has been laid out to emphasize the natural beauty and layout of the land. With wide landing areas and many natural challenges along the way, Arrowhead presents a fair challenge to golfers of all abilities.

The course features a peninsula green and a monster par 5 running along the River. Front 9 has a character of its own, cut through trees, with placement shots a priority. The back is longer allowing you to grip it and rip it.

Arrowhead Golf Club measures 5762 yards from the longest tees. The course features 2 sets of tees for different skill levels.

I played here in the mid 1970's when it was new (rough shape) and just a nine (9) hole layout. The Front 9 (Built in 2001) starts out with a easy yardage 320yd Par 4 but you need to miss the pond right and stary out of the lefthand trees. The #2 130yd Par 3 may sound easy if it wasn't for the 270 degrees of water around the elevated green that rejects missed shots. The #4 Par 5 at 455yds is short but playing with a 4 iron is a smart play as the first elbow dogleg is 180yds through the fairway with another kick left 140yds out from the green and VERY narrow. Having six (6) doglegs on this Front 9 makes up for the shorter yardage of 2,701 yds from the tips. The #5 Par 4 at 370yds is ranked at Hcp 2 because of 200yd corner, narrow treelined fairway all leading to the elevated green. The #9 Par 3 at 160yds is short but hitting short will put you into a large front hidden sand strap. I didn't remember any holes on the Front 9 and for good reason, they put the more open original 9 as the Back 9 (Built in 1973)and the new narrow wooded Front 9 (Built in 2001) as the Front 9. The Back 9 #10 starts out with a straightaway 303yd Par 4 with a pond protecting the RH side of the green. The #13 Par 4 at 394yds is a Hcp 5 because of being narrow and a very small elevated green. The #14 is a sweeping left 319yd Par 4 that has hidden water on the inside corner so a 180yd drive gives you a easy 140yd shot for the green. The #15 Par 5 is their longest hole at 501yds and a very narrow sweeping left to another small green. With #18 being a short 453yd Par 5 it's landing area at 200-250yds has a narrow treelined landing area so playing smart, leads to a easy Par. Looking forward playing again with less leaves and a better knowledge of "Course Management" of leaving the driver in the bag on the Front 9. Ended up shooting 45/44 w/ 33 putts and had four (4) of the five (5) O.B.'s on the Front 9 because of hitting through corners.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Best course in the area
