I've been wanting to play this 1993 Arthur Hills designed layout for 20+ years and now it happened, WOW!! This is the best $34 18/cart spent on a 240 acre wooded/marsh layout that throws everything at you, except low scores. Conditions were excellent from five (5) tee boxes (6,887yd to 4,779yd) , sculptured fairways/traps, undulating firm holding greens that made you look at putts from all four (4) sides. Any missed fairways (narrow but fair) and you prayed the narrow rough would catch your ball before it disappeared (I had 5 O.B's) into golf ball heaven. Once we started out on this 6,887yd / 74.4 / 149 / Par 72 layout the wooded layout, each hole offering many visual distractions, keeping you from focusing on your landing area. I shot 47/44 w/33putts / Jeremy 98/33putts / Barry 113/35putts (10 O.B's) and Kevin taking honors of 86/37putts w/2 O.B's finding the landing areas in good form. Many forced carries with hidden rough areas, making you pay for what looked like a short cut but wasn't. The #18 hole is a good example of staying right as its 250yd carry to the straight away short cut, I didn't make it. Looking forward to playing again here and learning the yardages to the safe landing areas. You won't find a nicer course like this, for twice the money, that will give you the golf experience that "Thoroughbred Golf Club" can give you.
Would travel: 60-120 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line:I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
Condition of Course, Price, Pace of Play, Food/ Bar facilities, Difficulty, Ambiance, Staff, Layout, No Houses on Course, Clubhouse
