Southern Hills Golf Course is a links-style course with large greens and tee boxes. The course is playable for all skill levels. Water hazards come into play on five holes, including #6, a 435-yard, par 4, which has a pond sitting on the right and in front of the green. The layout begins and ends with par 5's. The greens are very fast, and the narrow fairways are lined with bunkers and a thick cut of native prairie grass.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6314 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4970 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 547 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 147 yards from the back tees.
