The Bridges Golf Course, formerly the Private, Winona Country Club, is now Semi-Private and is an 18 hole golf course. The course is located in Winona, Minnesota.
The Bridges Golf Course first opened for play in 1920. The then, 9-hole course, was designed by Ben Knight.
The second nine holes were added in the sixties based on drawings made by Robert Trent Jones. William and Lois Christensen donated the land needed for the additional holes. The current eighteenth hole was designed by Joel Goldstrand and put into play in 1994, this new hole allowed for the creation of a practice tee area.
The Bridges Golf Course is scenic, built on the natural rolling terrain and amongst the surrounding woods. A creek meanders through the course that comes into play on five of the first nine holes. The greens are somewhat slow. The main difficulties are the narrow fairways and the large sand bunkers.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,758 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 6,098 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 565 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 10, a par-3 that plays to 141 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 11, a 565 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 2, a 195 yard par-3. The signature at The Bridges Golf Course is #11, the 565-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot that must carry a creek, then an approach shot past two large oak trees which guard the left side of the green.

THE WINONA COUNTRY CLUB IS NOW CALLED THE BRIDGES AND IS PUBLIC. THE NAME IS DUE TO GREAT BRIDGES OVER DEEP SWALES FROM THE TEE TO THE FAIRWAY. VERY UNIQUE. VERY GOOD GREENS BUT A LITTLE FLAT. I PLAY ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND THIS IS A GOOD COURSE WITH A NICE CLUBHOUSE AND PRO SHOP.
