Detailed description of Country Club Of New Hampshire

Country Club Of New Hampshire, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in North Sutton, New Hampshire.

The Country Club Of New Hampshire Golf Course first opened for play as a 9 hole golf course in 1930. The course was designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek. William F. Mitchell designed the back nine and redesigned the existing holes in 1963.

The Country Club Of New Hampshire is a cross between a Parkland and Scottish links-style course.Water hazards come into play on over half the holes. There are not many trees, but there is a defined cut of thick rough lining all the fairways.

The front nine on this course was built on flat terrain. The back nine was built on rolling terrain. The greens are very large, slightly sloped, and range from medium to fast in speed.

The signature hole is #10, a 440 yard, uphill par 4, requiring a tee shot over a creek that turns and then extends its way up the entire right side of the fairway. The same creek must be crossed on hole #11, a 144-yard, par 3.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,727 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,446 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 510 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 144 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 16, a 445-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 2, a 190 yard par-3.

Great staff and Pro Shop.

In a 2 week vacation time period, I played this course 7 times. I stayed at Keyser Lake and this course is about 3 minutes away. Very convenient.

Ask before you reserve a tee time/play. Mid week (usually Wed sometimes Thu) there is a ladies league that tees off at 8 AM on holes 9 and 10. Teeing off at 7 AM is just enough time to run into the ladies on the nineth. The ladies are very nice (LOL) but........... Last year, at 8 AM, a member came up behind me at 9, saw me, saw the ladies and said "Follow me". Without disturbing their play, we jumped to 11 and we enjoyed each others company right through to 18. This year, again on Wednesday, I skipped holes 9 and 10 -- Wednesday ladies league -- thought I could beat them to 9 but I was wrong. When I got to 18, the Ranger wanted to know what time I started because he did not expect to see anyone on 18 this early in the morning. When I started to explain about the ladies, he gave me the New England "enough said" look. After checking his roster, he offered to let me play the first 2 holes again to make up for "my" selected loss. Due to another commitment that morning, I declined but I thought this was particularly considerate. Just part of the friendly staff at CCNH.

The fairways were in good condition but a number of the greens were in tough shape. For me, the close proximity of the course, a Monday Madness special - $32 incl a cart, the reasonable fees other days, the often seen cart girl and the great staff were reasons enough to overcome the few marginal greens.

I will gladly play this course again next year. Maybe I'll try a Sat or Sun over Wed (LOL) or just play behind the ladies (yeah, right -- I'll push the cart (up hill) before I do that.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
