Bear Brook Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Newton, New Jersey.
Bear Brook first opened for play in 2002. The course was designed by Ron Prichard and Roger G. Rulewich.
Par for the course is 70. The Black tees are set at 6,468 yards, White-5,974 yards, Gold-5,205 yards, and The Red tees play to 4,705 yards.
The course closed in 2011.
The course opened as part of the 86-home Bear Brook development but was closed in the fall of 2011 after owners Gale and Kitson, Fredon Golf, LLC had not paid property taxes on the four parcels that make up the course. Tax liens on three pieces were later purchased by investment banks. A fourth parcel, was sold in 2016, for $50,000 to Dr. Paul Zimprich, of East Coast Equine.
He won the auction for the 42.5-acre tract of land in the township that used to belong to Bear Brook Golf Club, with the hopes of establishing an equine facility.
Bidding on the land -- known as Block 1807, Lot 6 and made of up several holes from the now-defunct golf course -- began at $50,000. Zimprich was the only bidder.
