The original nine holes - on the lower side of the road (Rt. 79) - were built in the late 1928 by two brothers of Scottish descent, John and Jim McGinty, natives of neighboring Susquehanna, PA, who operated a small dairy and beer garden alongside their golf tract. By the 1960's, nine more were designed on the topside of the road by Paul Kern, making the “Windsor Golf Club†fully playable as 18 holes. In the early 1990's, the club was purchased and refurbished by Dong Yew, who renamed it Golden Oak Golf Club.
The 18-hole, par 70 layout with its upper and lower designs- combines testy golf holes and rugged hillside views on the front side...with a shorter, compact layout on the back. The highlight is the fourth hole, a 315-yard par four, with a final shot over water to an island green. The five par threes are all very challenging, each with it's own style. Two par fives and six par fours are protected by water hazards, demanding accuracy. Several holes provide an excellent view of the surrounding countryside.
