Detailed description of Bemus Point Golf Club

Bemus Point Golf Club, is a Public, 9 hole golf course located in Bemus Point, New York, on the east side of Lake Chautauqua, just before you go across the bridge on the Southern Tier Expressway.

Bemus Point golf course opened in 1893.

Bemus Point golf course is a well wooded course built on very undulating terrain. The tee boxes are elevated, and the fairways are average width. The greens are average in size and speed. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing a double loop eighteen hole round. The great drainage system on the course allows the club to usually be the first course in the area to open for the season and the last to close.

Set on the side of a hill just off the quaint old town of Bemus Point on stately Lake Chautauqua, the Bemus Point golf course offers some reasonable challenges and one beautiful view of the lake (from the fourth tee). #1 is a wide-open par 4, #2 is a short par 3 to a mounded green, the course then goes up the hill and winds through a series of tree-lined par 4s with tricky elevation changes. Hole #6 is a long par three back down the hill. Whatever your skill level, it is imperative that you play this hole out of the top-hill chute from the blue tees, to a distance of about 225. #8 is the course's best, a long par 4 tightly tree-lined for the first 170 yards before opening up right.

The course has a lot of character for only nine holes, and you may find it's difficult to shoot your usual score. Bemus Point Golf Course plays to a 9-hole par-36 and measures 2,984 yards from the tips. The course rating is 36.7 with a slope rating of 119.

9-hole course with 4 hilly holes and 5 flat holes. No fairway watering, which they can usually get away with due to the sandy soil, but the ball really runs during dry summers. Good layout with a variety of par 4's, but both par 5's are short. Small, flat greens, and the condition of the greens is hit-and-miss. A good course that anyone can play without too many problems, but it still provides a challenge for the low handicappers, especially from the back tees.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
