Bluff Golf Links

As a local resident I know this course is used for playing relaxed rounds of golf with pals, and for practice rounds for people who is working on their game. There is no illusion that the Bluff is some sort of "premium" course. The layout does give some challenge, and the greens are usually pretty good and putt true. I think too many people want every course to look like Agusta National or Pinehurst #2. If you use that much fertlizer and water on a course just to boost the appearence and condition, it cost a fortune, and has to be passed along. The Bluff is a fun little course, at a more than reasonable price. Regular Joe's, like me, like to play golf too and it's nice to have a place like this in this area. It wouldn't bother me at all if the tourist crowd would bypass the Bluff and take their snobby, status seeking attitudes on up to Pinehurst.

You get what you pay for, at this course you may even get a little bit more.

I had a blast here. Bluff Golf Links is a hard course if your all over the place. Not very many people there which was cool. The price was awsome. I live in the area. But for all the uptight rich golfers, you shouldn't play here. This isn't a vacation/destination course. Keep driving the price of golf up some where else. With a little work and TLC this place could be? well i couldnt afford it anymore.

Played here 2-4-10, in cold, wintry conditions, mainly because it was the only course in the Pinehurst area that was not Cart Path Only, and we had a guy who wasn't up to the extensive walking back and forth across fairways. Course may have once been worthwhile, but is seriously run down and in very poor shape. Design is generally OK, but is a little quirky, as apparently some holes have been rerouted from their original layout, and there is an unusual degree of distance between greens and tees: not a walkable course in my estimation. Course is also fairly tight, and not very well marked. Some challenging holes, including good use of elevation change and water. Tee boxes were OK, but fairways are severely rutted, with loots of drainage problems evident. Bunkers were very bad, and the greens were only so-so, even considering the time of year. Pro shop is minimal, with no snack bar, but the guy on duty was friendly, and made us feel welcome. However, there are LOTS of courses in the Pinehurst area and this one should be absolute last on your list.
