This is a shot-maker,s course. Accuracy over power in this 6,720 yard, par 70 layout is what it takes to score well.
Players' climb from the somewhat flat, yet undulating front nine to the gentle slopes and sometime steep inclines and descents of the back nine. The back nine also provides great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The golf course first opened for play in 1899 and was redesigned in 1924 by Donald Ross. The course was retored in 2001 in the spirit of its 1924 Donald Ross design.

A beautiful course in a beautiful setting. The staff is extremely nice. It is always a pleasure to play a Donald Ross course, although the Grove Park is much tamer than Pinehurst #2 around the greens. It is overpriced, even for a Donald Ross course.

It was a very nice course but the greens were very slow. "Cart path only" made the GPS system only marginally useful.

Severely over priced. The course was beautiful with dramatic landscapes from elevations. Played in the winter during a nice warm day, and I was in one of two groups on the course. It is almost double the price of other courses in Asheville and a six pack of beer was $24!!! After the round we had to take a shuttle up to the hotel to have a drink. I'm glad I went, but will never go back. IN season rate is $60 more than what I paid.
