Decided to play a quick nine (9) holes before heading back up North to the cold and snow. This downtown Public run Par 35 course was a surprise at conditions and challenge for its Blue at 2,936yds down to Reds at 2,260yds. For $19 w/cart and the overseeding green conditions it was better than the two (2) courses I played earlier this week here. Starting out #1 with a narrow/OB right side 423yd Par 4 gets your attention right away. The smaller size greens make up for the lack in length on some of the other holes. The #2 Par 4 hole at 342yds has a hill 175-200yds out from the Blues with the 100yd marker on top, level with the small narrow green. The #3 a slight downhill 153yd Par 3 to a RH front green-side bunker to this small round green. The #4 is a 377yd dogleg left thats 225yds to the corner and stay to the RH side to avoid LH trees. The #5 is a short 286yd dogleg right that has a 200yd tee shot putting you in the center of the corner.......Safely, for a easy par. The #6 at 333yd is a easy Par 4 if you hit a 180-220 tee shot, because everything tightens up after that. Trees LH/RH, narrowing fairway with sand traps on the inside corner to a small uphill sloping green. The #7 is a downhill 196yd Par 3 with going long is nothing but trouble so short left is your bailout. The #8 dogleg right at 339yds has your 2nd shot best played from 90-130yds in to this small elevated green. Saving the longest and narrowest hole for last, this #9 at 487yd Par 5 demands staying in the fairway as straying right is O.B. This was a real surprise to find a inner city Public course with the play it gets and still in great shape.

What a nice 9-hole course. Similar feel to Sunset Hills which I played a day earlier. Nice feel like Sunset, but perhaps a bit more difficult. More protective sand bunkers than Sunset, and superior greens. The greens were large, well bunkered, balls hit to the green stayed on the greens, and the conditioning was superior. Great greens.

Course plays like what it is, 9-holes of a very nice golf course. The perfect place for a quick week-day nine.

We played on a rather crowded Saturday. But, the marshal paired everyone twosomes and we got off with as a foursome just like other groups we saw. The pace of play was maintained. As a twosome we may have felt held up by the pace of play and been irritated, but as a foursome, the pace of play seemed just fine, no complaints.

Charlotte are fortunate to have such nice and affordable city courses. This course, like Sunset Hills, offers a lot of golf for the money. If I lived midway between the two courses, it would be hard to decide which to play.
