Detailed description of Hickory Meadows Golf Course, CLOSED 2014

Hickory Meadows Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Whitakers, North Carolina.

The course was designed by Redd Sapp (land/course owner) and Gene Watson (PGA pro at a local private club). The back nine opened in September of 1979. The front nine was completed in April of 1980. 

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,737 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,520 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 520 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 169 yards from the back tees.

After closing briefly in 2012, the course reopened only to close again in 2014.

This course can be challeging if you miss the fairway. Course plays longer than it looks.The course looks wide open from the tee box, but it narrows a lot as you go down the fairway to the hole.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles
