Traveling through this area and GPS picked up this course just 5 minutes off the highway so......what the heck.
This is a rolling, side by side, tree-lined (pine/hardwoods) well maintained, large smooth greens and busy golf course. The mix of trees that lined the fairways made the straightforward layout tighten up a bit and also helped in keeping the 15-20mph winds under control. Fairways had fair landing areas but the added traps on many of the Back 9 holes had you making course management decisions before swinging the big stick. The larger than average Public size greens received / held all shots coming in and still putted 9-10 and rolling very true. Typical yardage blocks from 250 - 100 yds and colored flags helped with yardage decisions. The Five (5) tee boxes give golfers of all levels choices from 6,417yds / 70.2 / 130 to 4,872yds / 67.8 / 118 on this Par 36/36 well-conditioned layout.
They have Four (4) very interesting water holes (#5, #6, #13, #17) that make this typical layout very interesting.
Starting with #5 / 350yd / Par 4 (#1 hcp) having an island green (130yd minimum carry) will make your 2nd shot selection VERY important. I had 150yds downwind shot and flew the 30yd circular green that looked like a postage stamp from my position.
The #6 179yds / Par 3 has water carry on the RH side, but miss left, and fairway awaits your 2nd shot.
#13 335yd / Par 4 has a similar green set-up, but a thin LH fairway will give you a bailout to aim for if needed.
#17 183yd / Par 3 has water from tee to green but RH bailout area to ease your mind during your swing.
Shooting 41/40 w/32 putts on this windy (12-18mph) overcast day had me feeling good on my drive back home.
Prices in Canada ($66 18/cart) always seem about 25% higher than the same course in Michigan area, but that could be due to the exchange rate. Still a very well conditioned course to stop and play if you're in the area.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line:I won't play again, Better than average course for the area, Expensive, but not worth it, Best course in the area
Condition of Course, Food/ Bar facilities, No Houses on Course, Clubhouse
