Detailed description of Jack Frost National Golf Club

Jack Frost National Golf Course is a semi-private, 18-hole golf course located in Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the Pocono Mountains.

Jack Frost National Golf Course opened for play in 2007. The course was designed by Terry LaGree.

Considered a “large golf course” spanning over 7,200 yards, and more than 200 acres, the course covers magnificent terrain, beautiful landscapes and offers striking vistas and views. The course is located on the crest of Jack Frost Mountain that encompasses an elevation of 2000 ft and the natural Oak Forest highlights the movement of each golf hole.

The front 9 is fairly level after the 1st tee shot until the second shot on the 9th. The back 9 has more elevation changes and is tighter. The fairways are generally wide, but your angle of attack into the greens is important, so shot placement is the key to lower scores. The greens can eat you up with undulation and changing conditions as the day progresses. Jack Frost National Golf Course is a player friendly design that gives players of every skill level an enjoyable golf experience. Jack Frost National has wide fairways, easily identified target areas, few uneven lies and no blind shots.

Championship tees: par-72, 7,256 yards, 74.9 / 139

Advanced tees: par-72, 6,741 yards, 72.9 / 136

Member tees: par-72, 6,297 yards, 71.5 / 133

Forward tees: par-72, 5,729 yards, 68.4 / 124

Most Forward tees: par-72, 5,129 yards, 70.2 / 121

One of the best public access courses in the Poconos. Like all courses in the area, if you don't hit it straight, you're going to lose some balls. Best driving range and short game practice area in the Pokes, bar none. Very reasonable rates, especially mid-week.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area

Played here during a guys weekend. Really liked the course. Have to use course management to score well. Greens were very fast but were tough to read, at least for me anyway. Some putts seemed to roll uphill, local knowledge would bea big plus. Other courses in the area were on same level with this course but were cheaper

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Better courses for less nearby

JFN has a very interesting layout, wider fairways than most Pocono courses, big undulating greens where angle to the pin can make a big difference. Greens were on the speedy side but not super fast. Breaks seem to read true. Some fairways not in the best condition, but everything else was. Staff was professional and friendly. Odd that a course of this quality has a small, temporary-looking clubhouse and slag heaps around the parking lot. Longish and challenging, but fair.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
