Edgewater Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Lancaster, South Carolina, just 45 minutes from both Charlotte, North Carolina, and Columbia, South Carolina, in a new resort-style community.
Edgewater Golf Club first opened for play in 2008. The course was designed by Bruce Brodsky.
The Edgewater neighborhood has approximately 3,000 homesites, many with lake views, but as of 2011 fewer than 80 homes have been built. That course currently has a very secluded feel that will most likely change over the years as homes are built .
Edgewater has a surprising amount of elevation change, making it very challenging to walk, in part because there's so much room between some greens and tees. That explains the seven miles of cart paths.
If you want a demanding course, it's there from the back tees. The par-3 fourth hole features an island tee and asks players to hit a 230-yard, uphill shot over water to a green protected by a steep front.
If you want something less than the back tees, Edgewater offers that, too. The course has five sets of tee stations. The greens are big and gently contoured, not overdone.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,103 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 4,717 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 570 yards. The shortest hole at Edgewater Golf Club is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 173 yards from the back tees.

It's a little out of the way for Charlotte area golfers, but once they play it, they tend to really like it. Myself, I love it!

I've played this course for the last several years over the 4th of July weekend. This year I also played it the last weekend of September. The course is always in great condition. Normally the greens are terrific but they had just punched them a few days before our September trip. However, they gave us a price reduction due to the aerification. I really like the elevation changes on the course and the course is challenging. It's the type of course you need to play a few times to be able to play your best.
