Detailed description of Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club

Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Shaftesbury Glen Golf and Fish Club first opened for play in 2001. The course was designed by Clyde Johnston.

From the stone-gated entrance to Olde English clubhouse, everthing is designed to evoke the spirit of Shaftesbury, England - the project's namesake. Clyde Johnston brings the same traditional look to his 18-hole championship course - elevated greens, picture-perfect traps, wide-flowing fairways, demanding doglegs, tantalizing par 3's and long par 5's.

Though set on relatively ordinary Carolina terrain, Shaftesbury Glen distinguishes itself in a variety of ways. It features wide fairways that let you bomb driver on practically every hole, though the course really shines on its greens. Each green is elevated and features large, splashed bunkers guarding the sides.

A truly unique concept, blending a world-class golf course with a superb fishing venue along the Waccamaw River. Shaftesbury Glen is now open and taking tee times.

Shaftesbury Glen plays to a par of 72 and 6,935 yards from the back tees for a course rating of 74 and a slope rating of 135.

Shaftesbury Glen is located in Conway off highway 22. Peak season green fees are $100.

This course has elevated greens, the holes offer variety, and the course is kept in good shape throughout the year. This course is not the least expensive, but worth the price for the challenge. This course is not a warm up course, it is a challenge course but with a fair set up. I play here a few times a year at a minimum. I enjoy the challenge.

The staff was outstanding, carts clean and ready to go. Cart girl was around frequently and very nice. The course was the best that I have golfed on this year by far. A very fair layout for any skill golfer. The fairways give your ball a great bounce and roll. The greens are perfect and gives a good roll and stick when chipping and awesome roll when putting. Their putting surface has been the best i've putted on all year. What a refreshing round after a disaster year of golf that I have had. I will and have HIGHLY RECOMMEND this course to anyone at anytime. I hope that Shaftesbury Glen lets the AGT come back again, because I will be there, no problem.
