Detailed description of World Tour Golf Links

World Tour Golf Links is a 27-hole public golf course located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The 3 nine-hole layouts that can be combined in 3 different 18 hole combinations are Tour The Championship 9, Tour The Open 9, and Tour The International 9.

World Tour Golf Links opened for play in 1999. The courses were designed by Mel Graham.

World Tour Golf Links is a replica golf course with holes laid out as close as possible to replicate the best (most famous) golf holes found on the premier courses in the world.

Interesting facts about World Tour Golf Links

1. To play the courses which inspired World Tour Golf Links, you'd have to travel nearly 20,000 miles, through six times zones and five different countries.

2. Of the courses that inspired World Tour, 16 are so exclusive that the average golfer would not be able to play them at any price.

3. Greens fees for just one round at each of the six public courses featured at World Tour would total more than $1,000.00-not including airfare and lodging.

4. The circular drive outside World Tour's $2.5 million clubhouse flies the flags of six countries-Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, Spain and the U.S.-and 10 states: California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

5. Six different countries with four different languages (English, French, Scottish and Spanish) inspired holes at World Tour.

6. Over 1 million cubic yards of dirt were moved to authentically recreate the features and hazards of the 27 holes that inspired World Tour.

7. In doing research for World Tour's creation, owner Mel Graham traveled thousands of miles to visit each hole on a 150-hole "short-list" of potential inspirations.

8. There are more than 2,000 azalea bushes planted around the four holes inspired by Augusta National.

9. Of the U.S. states represented at World Tour, Florida is the top "repeat contributor" - Bayhill, Doral, Jupiter Hills, TPC Sawgrass and Seminole all inspired holes at World Tour.

10. For "Most Holes Inspired by a Single Course", the title goes to Augusta National. Augusta's 11th, 12th, and 13th (the trio that comprises the legendary "Amen Corner") are on the Championship Nine; no. 16 is on the Open Nine.

11. Outside the U.S., the United Kingdom is home to the most World Tour-inspiring courses with Royal Troon and St. Andrews in Scotland and Wentworth in England.

This was my favorite course that we played on our recent golf exodus to Myrtle Beach. The first and ninth holes were reminiscent of 1 and 18 at St Andrews. The par threes are fun and not overly long. Amen corner was fun. Staff were excellent. We did not have a problem with pace of play until we got to about the 14th hole when it got a little slow but not bad for a vacation course. Definitely would play on our next trip to MB.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area

Pace of play was an issue. We had four groups ahead of us and two of those groups were fivesomes. At $29 for a six pack of beer$$$ The course it's self was great. One of the holes on the Open side, had an issue with it's green, some kind of fungus. It is a nice setup, and I would probably play again with friends who haven't played it before. Having to wait on every single shot because we had a fivesome in front of us was a little upsetting.

This is a great layout. The course is setup to resemble some of the most famous golf holes in the world. Some of the holews you can find out here for example are number 18 at St. Andrews as well as Amen corner from Augusta National. The condition is remarkable and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this couse as one of the best vacation courses that i have ever been to..If you love golf you have to check this place out it is really cool
