Detailed description of Cotton Fields Golf Course, Green Valley Golf Club

Cotton Fields Golf Course at Green Valley Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in McDonough, Georgia.

The Cotton Fields Golf Club first opened for play in 1993. The course was designed by Jerry Schwendinger.

Green Valley Golf Club has two regulation eighteen hole courses that are very scenic. The Green Valley Course has narrow and tree-lined fairways, and its greens are medium in size and speed. Water hazards come into play on seven holes. The Cotton Fields Course has wide-open fairways, and the greens are medium sized and well-manicured. Lakes come into play on both courses, and the terrain varies between flat and rolling.

Cotton Fields Golf Course plays to 6,498 yards from the longest tees.

Traveling thru the area, picked it up on my GPS, located just off the highway so I stopped in, good call. Just got at the tail end of a booked full day, had nobody behind me so I played two (2) balls for a 4hr loop. From the tips (6,500) it had alot of forced carries and water left/right on many holes. The front is more open w/ landing areas than the back so get the driver working before the turn. Even though the grass had changed the fairway lies were very fair and I played it down all day. Greens were easy to read with not many suprises as to what you see from behind the ball. Shot 79/32putts on my "A" ball with my chipping saving my butt many times as the wind played tricks coming over and around the many tree lined fairways. Will need to stop again when the grass is green and less wind.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level

I really like the course, this is my second time playing and we drove 70 miles to play with an Atlanta based friend. The greens were good for winter conditions. Loved the water and scenery. The bunkers however were hard with no base and could have been raked and "fluffed" from the hard rain the day before. Also there were a few areas of standing water in fairways and bunkers. But the course layout made it worthwhile. The driving range needs better yard markers. It is a very good course that challenges the mid-range golfing but is fair and enjoyable. I'll defintely play again.
