Prairie Green Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A prairie treasure, Prairie Green was rated one of Golf Digest's Best New Affordable Courses in 1996. A beautiful prairie links style course designed by Dick Nugent in 1994, at Prairie Green you will experience generous fairways, stunning prairie wetlands, and well-bunkered greens. Challenging from the back tees but playable for all, the course features four sets of tees, very affordable fees and the glorious big skies and wide open spaces of the prairie.
This is a long, links-style course. The fairways vary from tight to wide open, and the small greens are undulating. Lakes come into play on fourteen holes. The most difficult hole is #6, a 566-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway (lined by houses) while simultaneously clearing a lake and sand bunker, then an approach shot over water to the green.
Par for the course is 72 and the course plays to 6,667 yards from the blue tees, 6,087 yards from the white tees, and 5,245 yards from the red tee boxes.

This is one of four really good courses in the Sioux Falls aera, and well priced in relation to courses of equal quality found around the country.

My home course. Layout is excellent since each set of tees puts a different "look" on a hole, and frequently changes choice of line to the green. Conditioning is not a country club, but is very good for a busy public golf course. If I was stuck just playing one course until I'm dead, this would not be a bad choice. You can face either strong (15-25) NNW winds or just the opposite (15-30) SSE winds. Housing tends to mitigate the wind on many holes. Course has 47 traps, down from 63 when it opened a decade ago. Lots of wetland which comes into play on 13 holes, and lots of birds. Greens crew have been working hard the past few years to improve conditioning and are making a lot of progress, so the fairway and green trend is from "par to birdie".
