Bear Creek Golf Club is a Public, 36 hole golf facility located adjacent to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Dallas, Texas. The facility has two Ted Robinson designed 18-hole golf courses. They are The East Course at Bear Creek and The West Course at near Creek.
The West Course first opened for play in 1980. The course was designed by Ted Robinson.
The West Course tends to be less open, but there are some tree-lined fairways on both courses. The greens usually have good speed. Many of the tees and greens are elevated. The West Course has nine elevated greens and the East Course has six holes with elevated greens.
The West Course has rolling hills, densely-wooded fairways and large, and subtle greens. Both the signature #17 and spectacular #7 have been recognized as two of the best golf holes in Texas.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,690 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,570 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 526 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 178 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 7, a 390-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at The West Course is # 16, the 178-yard par-3 signature hole.

I played with a discount so I can't compain about cost to value. However the regular rates are overpriced for the area.

The tee time was booked online and we got a special deal. I hadn't played the west course in some time. Being that it was during the week, pace of play was pretty darn good.

The green fee pricing is much like the Texas weather. It seems to change about every 2 hours. If they had some consistency to their pricing, I would play more, but they occasionally get full of themselves and over inflate the green fees, which makes the course non-competitive for the area that has many excellent golf courses. I love the courses at Bear Creek, but not enough to over pay for a playing privilege. My favorite is the West, but the East is good too. I have played here on and off since it originally opened as one 18 hole track with Don January involved in the design of the original 18 holes.

There are 2 great courses on The Bear Creek property. The courses are not as long as some of the other courses I have played, but they are very challenging. West course has nice elevations and the East Course is tree lined and tight.

I've always enjoyed playing this course. My only dilema is choosing the East or the West course. It's nice to see the wildlife around (like red tailed hawks). The only wildlife NOT welcome are the snakes, but then again, living in Texas, that's to be expected in or near the woods. But although snakes live in the area, I've only experienced one in all the times I've played this course over the years.
