Hawk Ridge Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Wichita Falls, Texas. Formerly known as La Vista Golf Course, this property was purchased in early 2001 by a group of investors and renamed Hawk Ridge Golf Club. The name originated from a family of hawks that nested in a tree on the course's southeast corner during the transfer of ownership.
The Hawk Ridge course opened for play in 1957. The course was designed by Wade Flat.
Since 2001, Hawk Ridge has taken on more of a links style course appearance by recently adding mounding and rolling terrain - a rarity for courses in the Texoma region.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6156 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5017 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 615 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 130 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 196 yard par-3 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Hawk Ridge Golf Club is # 11, a 308 yard par-4.
The Hawk Ridge Golf Club golf course closed in 2009. The closing was in part due to water rates going up 600% in a year. Some golfers claim foul play on the part of the city raising water rates for Hawk Ridge whose demise would garner increased business for the competing municipal course.

I'm a beginner, and find Hawk Ridge a good course to play. It is neither too long or too difficult to get discouraged.
