Silverhorn Golf Club Of Texas, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in San Antonio, Texas.
Silverhorn golf course first opened for play in 1995. The distinct Hill Country character of SilverHorn can be credited to designer Randy Heckenkemper along with PGA Tour Professionals Willie Wood and Scott Verplank. SilverHorn's tree-lined fairways, strategic use of sand and water, and beautifully framed contoured greens make this par 72 course a treasured Hill Country experience long remembered.
The signature hole on the front-nine is the par-5 6th hole which shares much in common with great golf holes around the world. Twenty acres of water borders the entire left side of this 556 yard dogleg left, bringing water into play on every shot.
The signature hole on the back-nine is the par-4 15th hole which is SilverHorn's most challenging. Accuracy and length from the tee is a premium on this 446 yard hole. The second shot requires a long iron to this elevated green which is guarded by a large bunker on the left. Two creeks cross through the fairway and must be cleared on the second shot to have a chance at par.
Green tees: par-72, 6,922 yards, course rating 73.4, slope rating 138

Third year in a row I have played this course in June - it just keeps getting better. Course was in great shape. The greens were tough, but approach shots were biting. This course is not on a resort, but it is well worth playing on vacation. Challenging for all skill levels. You have just got to love a course that gets better each year.

I played this course again this year as part of a group. Course was in good shape. Pleasant day of golf, though the summer heat in San Antonio can make an otherwise good day unbearable. It is not one of the high-end resort courses, but it is not priced like it either.

Pace of play was great. Staff exceptional. Only negative was the port-a-pots -- seems like this course has been around long enough for a decent restroom facility on the course.

Gem hidden in the midst of San Antonio (10 minutes from airport). Course is well maintained with few homes visible from course. TIGHT course. Straight drives pay premium, with wayward drives costly. Accuracy important here. In spite of the very very dry conditions in south central Texas the course is holding up. Green fee of $39.11 on Friday afternoon a bargain. Course is challenging, but fair.

My suggestion would be to take mosquito spray with you this time of year.
