Detailed description of Quail Valley - El Dorado Course

Quail Valley is a Public, 36 hole golf facility located in Missouri City, Texas. The facility has two 18-hole golf courses. They are The La Quinta Course and The El-Dorado Course.

Quail Valley, The El Dorado Course, originally opened for play in 1970. The course front-9 was designed by Johnny Miller. The back-9 was designed by Jay Riviere. The course was rennovated in 2009 by Jeffrey Blume. The El Dorado Course measures 6,680 yards from the backt tees and plays to a par-70.

Quail Valley is located in Missouri City, Texas and was the first master planned community in Fort Bend County. The community was originally built around 3 golf courses (El-Dorado, La Quinta, and Executive). Quail Valley once hosted the 1973 and 1974 Houston Open and continues to host numerous local and regional tournaments. The Executive Course closed in 2006 and The El-Dorado Course closed in 2007. The El-Dorado Course reopened in 2009.

The former Q. V. Country Club was taken over by the City of Missouri City in July 2008. Four Hundred acres of green space lies in the center of Quail Valley. Several hundred homes directly adjacent to this property enjoy the rolling terrain. The City of Missouri City now manages the two 18-hole golf courses. The remaining 155 acres will be offering other recreational opportunities for residents to enjoy.

This is my “home” course - I play here several times a week since retiring. It is an interesting design that will challenge all areas of your game. Even though I play here frequently it never gets boring. However, the winter of 2018-2019 has been tough with rain 2-3 times a week. Even though the course has excellent drainage, it has not really dried out in a couple of months. But the greens putt fast and true and the fairways are very playable. Sometimes the rough gets pretty deep when they aren’t able to mow properly due to wet conditions. This course is fun and interesting and definitely worth a trip to play.

This course is no longer private and has been reopened with many upgrades to the layout and condition. Just moved to the neighborhood and I enjoy playing here weekly.
