The Club traces its roots back to the Staunton Country Club, a 9-hole golf course founded in 1910. The current course at Ironwood was opened in 1968 as the Country Club of Staunton. The 18-hole course was designed by William F. Gordon.
The course is draped across rolling hills with views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Some consider the side-hill, downhill, and uphill lies as the most difficult aspect of the course. The course will also challenge with narrow fairways and well bunkered greens.
