The course first opened for play in 1967. Fairwood was designed by Bill Teufel.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,316 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,375 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-4 that plays to 565 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-4 that plays to 170 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 13, a 407-yard par-3 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 7, a 260 yard par-4.

This unique course has a variety of fairways ranging from narrow to average width. The greens are well maintained and large. The front nine is fairly flat and the back nine has rolling terrain. Trees come into play throughout the course, and water hazards come into play on several holes.
