Detailed description of Lake Havasu Golf Club, East Course

Lake Havasu Golf Club, previously named London Bridge Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 36-hole golf course located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The facility has two 18-hole courses, they are The Nassau Course often called The East Course and The West Course, also known as The Olde London Course. Both courses offer fantastic views of the lake and are just a mile or two from downtown.

Lawrence M. Hughes designed both courses. The older of the two courses is The Olde London Course. Construction on the course started in 1965 with the front nine opening in 1967 and the back nine 1969. Jack Snyder redesigned four holes in 1984. The Nassau Course opened for play in 1977.

The Olde London Course _______________

The Olde Course is the more difficult of the two. Water hazards come into play on six holes, and numerous sand bunkers have been incorporated throughout the entire course design. The signature hole is #10, a 385-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot from off an elevated tee to a fairway featuring a sand bunker in the center (located 260 yards out), then an accurate approach shot to a well-bunkered green with a pond protecting the front.

Olde London has a traditional layout with numerous water hazards and sand bunkers throughout the entire course.

Blue tees: par-71, 6,618 yards, 70.9 / 122

White tees: par-71, 6,298 yards, 68.9 / 120

Red tees: par-71, 5,756 yards, 73.5 / 133

The Nassau Course _______________

Although shorter in length at its maximum yardage of 6,140, is only slightly easier than The Olde Course. The Nassau course features narrow fairways and medium-sized greens that are fast and well-bunkered. Water comes into play on #s 9, 10, & 11.

Built mainly to the North and East of the Olde London course, The Nassau Course offers many elevation changes that provide fabulous views of Lake Havasu and the surrounding city.

The London Bridge Nassau Course has narrow fairways lined by houses. The greens are medium-sized and fast.

Blue tees: par-72, 6,140 yards, 70.9 / 118

White tees: par-72, 5,757yards, 67.1 / 115

Red tees: par-72, 5,045 yards, 68.2 / 111

Overseeding is staggered between the two courses. When the course being seeded is closed, the other remains open.

The course itself was in very nice condition for mid December and was relatively challenging for a guy with a 17 handicap such as myself. The staff was polite, clean, dressed appropriately for their positions and from what could see were all doing doing their jobs. What the course or courses lack is a clubhouse and restroom facilities worthy of the finely maintained course. Its not dilapidated or falling apart from what I could see, but just old. Not the good kind of historic old but the old that nothing will fix with the exception of a bulldozer. Lets hope the plans are already being drawn up.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

I have been a member since 2000. Course has gotten worse as time goes by. Gen Mgr. and greens keeper don't seem to know what their doing and don't seem to care. Course used to be American Golf, then Eagle golf bought it. Word is we are the highest grossing course so why fix it. Club championship was about three weeks ago. Returning club champ came to play a practice round. Backed out of the tournament cause of the condition. Nearest courses are 40 miles and about the same price but way better than ours. Club championship was on the West course which is supposed to be better but not.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Worse than average course for the area
