Detailed description of Arizona Biltmore Country Club, Adobe

Arizona Biltmore Country Club is a Resort 36 hole golf facility located in Phoenix, Arizona. The golf facility, located adjacent to the legendary Arizona Biltmore Hotel and Resort, has two 18-hole golf courses. They are The Adobe Course and The Links Course.

The older of the two Arizona Biltmore Country Club golf courses is The Adobe Course. The course opened in 1930. The course architect was William P. Bell, the designer of Riviera and Bel-Air Country Club. The Adobe Course was renovated in 1989. The renovation design was the work of Forrest Richardson.

The newer of the two Arizona Biltmore Country Club golf courses is The Links Course. The course opened in 1978. The course architect was Bill Johnston.

Arizona Biltmore Country Club, The Adobe Course_______________

The Adobe Course is a true parkland with sprawling fairways while challenging them with numerous, hungry bunkers. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Squaw Peak mountain range and the far-reaching southern skyline of downtown Phoenix, the Adobe provides views as breathtaking as the course itself. The Adobe Course winds through a forest of citrus trees that line all the fairways.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,449 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,796 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 508 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 146 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 422 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 16, a 155 yard par-3.

Arizona Biltmore Country Club, The Links Course_______________

The Links Course is very scenic and has water hazards coming into play throughout its entire design. Most of this course's greens are elevated. The Links Course has rolling fairways, desert ravines and five pristine lakes that call for a high level of sportsmanship, bold shots, and demanding accuracy.

Arizona Biltmore Country Club, The Links Course plays to a par-71 and maximum distance of 5,726 yards. The course has rolling fairways, desert ravines, and five shimmering lakes. Taking a cue from the seaside links course of the British Isles, the bunkers are deep and set dangerously close to the greens.

An unusually cool day in late May had me at the Adobe course at the Arizona Biltmore. The Adobe is a venerable track dating back to 1929.A refreshing change of pace from all of the desert, target golf courses that proliferate in the Valley of the Sun. A perfect course for that late afternoon round- hard to believe you are in the center of town too- but hey, you are playing golf and not stuck in an office in one of the high rises off in the distance. The course is straight forward, no major elevaton changes- just hit your ball, chase it down and hole it out. No battling the jumping cholla here, but your short game and putting will be tested on some classic green complexes. The million $ manses that surround the course certainly increase the ambience without intruding on your play. The staff is friendly, efficient and personable. A post round beverage at the Adobe Grill will top off your day.
