Del Lago Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Vail, Arizona.
The Del Lago golf course first opened for play in 2000. The cpar-72 layout was designed by Timothy P. Nugent.
The Del Lago Golf Club serves as the centerpiece of Rancho del Lago, a master-planned community located about 20 minutes from downtown Tucson off Interstate 10. Hoses are set well back from the course. The course is open to everyone.
Although only 20 minutes from Tuscon, the course is located at an elevation of 3,400 feet - about five degrees cooler than Tucson during the summer. With 120 feet of elevation change, the club's 1st hole begins at the highest point, then plays down into the valley, coming to the back nine, which runs along Pantano Wash. The course winds its way through the hills and valleys of the high desert, with spectacular and unique views of the backside of the Rincon Mountains and the Santa Catalinas. Except for the 1st hole, which has the course's only forced carry, del Lago is golfer-friendly off the tees.
Seven lakes come into play on six holes, affecting a variety of shots: some drives, several approaches - just enough to put a little spice into the round. Strong bunkering around the greens adds to the challenge. #18 ends your round with a challenging tough uphill par-4, 421-yard finishing hole that has water in play for two shots.
Let the more skilled players play the back tees, which at 7,206 yards, carry a course rating of 73.9 and a slope of 135.

Course was in poor condition when we played it due to overseeding, Course was hard and greens were fast. Clubhouse was nice, with a great restaurant and showers

Overall I have played this course for 2 years after coming down from Chicago. This course is one of the best layouts in Tucson and the condition after overseeding this year is perfect. If coming down for golf this winter, you want to try Del Lago. It is well worth the short drive and cost is extremely competitive. You will enjoy the challenge and this is a Ted Nugent course with great holes.
