Santa Anita Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Arcadia, California.
Santa Anita golf course first opened for play in 1935. The course was designed by James Harrison Smith.
Santa Anita golf course is located just up the street from the famous horse racing track that shares the same name. This scenic course is situated just below the majestic San Gabriel Mountains. However, since the natural surrounding terrain is flat, man-made mounding was added to create many uneven lies. Mature pine and oak trees line each of the narrow fairways. Although there are no water hazards (with the exception of a flood control channel that play as out-of bounds), there are many strategically-placed sand bunkers. Additionally, this course's large greens are sloped.
Santa Anita Golf Course plays to 6,389 yards from the back tees and a par-71. The course rating is 70.1 and ithe slope rating is 122.
#18, a 435-yard, par 4, is one of the most difficult holes on the course. This hole requires a long tee shot over some large mounds up a dogleg right fairway, then a long approach shot to the green.

Great bang for the buck. I like walking and this course is very walkable. I have to keep my cholesterol in check so this is great.

For a public course, it's fairly priced. For seniors, it's a great value! The course layout is great, long enough to be a challenge for most golfers. Most Fairways are wide and pin locations are usually tucked behind bunkers. The course allows players to work the ball either way. Again, great value for the area!

I know that this course can really be tough, if set right, but it is a public course, very nice to the average player. Has a little of everything also a links type course, lots of side hill lies!
