Played Cypress Ridge on a golf weekend that included Monarch Dunes and Blacklake - this was easily the best of the three. Same designer as Moorpark CC (Peter Jacobsen), so if you like that track you'll like this one. Played behind a 7-school match play tournament (big-time college golfers), so it was a bit slow, but we got to watch and talk to some great young golfers during some tee box waits. The greens were fast and true and the pin placements were nasty that day. I'll be back.

I play this course on a regular basis. Bunkers are the worst aspect of the course, and all that stands between it and being the best course on California's central coast. The "beach" metaphor is apt -- most of the bunkers are placed where they get overspray from the sprinklers, leaving the bottoms of the bunkers as damp and packed as a tide area, while the sides are so fluffy that you sink up to your ankles when you enter a bunker. Playing out of the bunkers is difficult even for low handicappers, and the soft sand makes it a trial to even enter and exit. As a result, people rake poorly, and virtually every bunker has footprints left from someone who didn't even attempt to rake, making bunker play even more hazardous The greens historically are slow, but have been particularly slow of late. This is magnified when you play -- as I do -- in the afternoon. The design of the course is interesting and can be difficult depending on which of the five tee sets you choose to use (four discrete tees plus a blue/white combination for handicaps in the 10-12 range). Houses line at least one side of most fairways, and the course design paid little attention to aesthetics, so you don't play this course for the ambiance.

Beautiful layout among the cypress trees. Many oceanview locations. Tough par threes and challenging par fives. Excellant finishing hole. Acurancy around the greens a must or bunkers will have to be dealt with. Greens are fast but true.

This is my favorite course on the central coast. Resonably tough but won't bring you to your knees. If I could only play one course in this area, hands down Cypress would be it!!!

Great course, made difficult by bunkers around every green. It makes nonsense of the slope rating system. Its slope is 139 but plays much harder. There again, stay out of trouble and you could shoot a good score

Cypress Ridge is an excellent course with some ocean views. The course is plush with deep rough and fast but true greens. The finishing hole is a beautiful risk/reward par five. The green is protected by a lake in front of the green. Golf Digest gave this course 4 1/2 stars. A must play if you are in the area.
