Ridge Golf Course, The, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Auburn, California.
The Ridge Golf Club has a truly an exciting layout for golf, the golden foothills of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.
At The Ridge, you'll find a series of oak-studded knolls and hills with lots of rock outcroppings and splendid views. There's a 100-foot elevation change on the course. This feels like wide open country with no homes nearby. You're really going to experience the natural world of the foothills when you play a round at The Ridge.
There are 48 bunkers on the 170-acre site to enhance the demands of this rugged layout. You'll also find water on several holes of this par-71 course. But there are four sets of tees here so you can choose how many tests you want to face.

Challeging, quick greens. Some blind shots, would like to play again knowing where not to hit it. Good value

Tough course. But fun to play, but more fun after you have played several times and learned where not to hit the ball. The fairways lean toward the creek and the trees. Fast greens. Pace of play is good during the week day. I Have played in tournaments here on Saturdays, pace of play has been real slow.

No active marshalling. poor players killed the day with ridiculous pace of play. 3+ hours for 9 holes, we left after 9. very dissapointed as I have waited a long time to play the ridge based on it's reputation and we drove 90 minutes to play there. bad food and horrible service in the bar including no table service and a long wait for a below average meal. this place has HUGE potential...c'mon Ridge get with the tee it forward program and interview your players on the 1st tee box. No index, forward tees please. double par...pick it up please and keep up with the group in front of you!

The Ridge is have a few maintenance issues right now, such as semi-repaired areas on some greens. Overall, though, it is in pretty good shape and always a real challenge.

I live in the East Bay portion of the greater San Francisco/Bay Area. I try to schedule a round of golf anytime that I plan to visit the Auburn area.

My second time playing here. Last time at the same time of year. Both times the greens were very recently aerated. Clubhouse staff were pretty nonchalant and not very honest about the condition of the course even when asked. I was given the go ahead to go out and play, but the maintenance people seemed to be under the impression I shouldn't be out there at all because while I waited in the fairway for 5 minutes they continued working around the green. I picked up and proceeded to the next hole. Disappointing afternoon.

The greens were plugged and heavely sanded, fairways mowed with cuttings left everywhere. They should have told us when we made our reservation the DAY BEFORE! We asked conditions and they said "great".

I agree with most of the comments regarding course difculty for average to high handicappers. Unfortuntely this difficulty translates into a slow round as everyone seems to struggle with layout. Outisde of that the course was in good condition considering winter play and the price I paid ($40.00 with cart) made it a great value.

This is a very challenging course. After playing several times, I have decided not to come back. It's too hard for me. Maybe if you are a good golfer you will enjoy this course. The only way I would come back is if I got a free round somehow. The course is a very nice looking course and is in good condition. The area is nice and there are no houses on the course. Good luck to those who brave this challenge!!

Its beautiful, its long, and the greens are typically fast. Great challenge for a good golfer, higher handicap golfers can enjoy the course better by moving forward to easier tees, new golfers and very high handicaps beware, but this is a course even you should play, just let people play through if you are holding up play. Great practice facility, hit off grass on weekends, mats are very good for weekdays, practice greens are the same as the course. Blind tee shots not an issue, aim for the middle and you are fine. Golf Shop staff very helful, overall its a great experience to be and play there.

I first played this course in late spring and couldn't wait to play it again. This place is just beautiful!

This was a very difficult course to play. NOT recommended for high handicappers and definitely not for beginners as it is very tough to play.
The fairways were very good, however if you hit any shot into the first cut of rough you will be in big trouble. The first cut of rough was approximately 3-4 inches the day I played. To make matters worse, when it was mowed sometime prior to when I played, they just left the grass cuttings in the rough so there were piles of grass all over the place. I lost several balls that had just rolled into the first cut of rough right off of the fairway. Very frustrating.
Another disappointing aspect of this course was the layout. Hole locations are not clearly marked, making it difficult to find some tee boxes. Also, there are a couple of holes that have blind doglegs that leave the golfer clueless as to how to approach the green.
I happened to take my wife out with me to play this course and we both found it very difficult even though we play quite a bit of golf throughout the year. Very challenging to even the better golfer. Too challenging for the average/high handicap golfer.

We received a less expensive rate than normal due to aeration of the greens.

Good conditions, good price...no gps on carts, but yardage books avail. Food/beverage for a quick snack (we had hot dogs & sandwiches in our group) was just ok...

I played here in a charity tournament (hence the higher than average green fee, about double).
The course was fantastic. It was scenic, it was in great shape, and even the pace of play was good. The staff is wonderful at the Ridge and everything from the food to the golf carts was excellent.
I played this course years ago when I first took up the game of golf and thought that the course was very demanding and difficult for high handicappers. Now that I have played enough and improved during that time, I find that this is a very nice course. I have also learned much about course management, and if you play smart, you will come to love this golf course as well. A great golfing experience awaits you at the Ridge.
